It has been several weeks (months?) since I last posted here. Gah! We’re busy for a product competition come February, that’s why. And then there’s this financial statement analysis, et cetera, et cetera. Blame academic whatnots.
Anyways, this post shan’t be about those. So, let’s first talk about me. I’m Christian (Yeah, you prolly know that). I’m 18 and I’ll be turning a year older a few months from now. I guess I should enjoy the remaining teenage years, ha!. I’m taking up BS Accountancy in a state university and will be graduating next year (Hurrah!). I’m single (Oh, who cares? LOL.). And I love reading. And books. And reading (it’s so important it’s necessary to say it twice.)
Since, I’m not really sure what this post is really about, I guess I’ll proceed talking about the books I finished in January 2012:
1. A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
Forgive me if I don’t how to review a book. I wasn’t trained. Anyway, I brought the book because it won the Pulitzer Prize. Haha. It is funny. Really. It’s weird at some point. I can’t believe there can be people such as Ignatius Reilly; speaking in a too-intellectual manner and such nonsense, at that. Though I find it too long. It’s boring me at times.
2. Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan
The second installment of the Kane Chronicles. Much like the Sea of Monsters, the book is thinner than their respective prequels. And I like how Riordan managed to let Sadie and Carter go on separate ways which meant more adventures for them! And Walter! Who can forget the hot dude?! And Anubis! Cute kid god.
3. A Good Year by Peter Mayle
The jacket promised twists. And indeed there were. And a lot. But I had problems on the story’s pace. It was simply too fast. And when you read it, one must have a translator nearby. Or probably you can enhance your French speaking skills. And oh, there’s a movie. *Downloads*
4. Smaller and Smaller Circles by F.H.Batacan
Filipino mystery novel at its best! A serial killer is on the loose and it is up to two priests to solve it. And I have to advise you not to read the first chapter while eating. I repeat: DO NOT READ THE FIRST CHAPTER WHILE EATING.
5. N or M? by Agatha Cristie
Second mystery novel I read this month. Great writer, Cristie, indeed. I had many theories whilst reading it and all were wrong. Gah! Makes me wanna buy more of her works. Although I have a problem on where will I purchase. Hmmm.
So there. Five books for January and my financial resources are greatly depleted. Anyways, I have another book to read. Unfortunately, it’s an academic book. Oh well.
